Michael started his working life as a warehouse operative in 1983, moving after 1 year into what was then known as The Buying Office. This started a career in supply chain, including Procurement roles in the arenas of specialist medical instruments, low-margin fast moving healthcare consumables, direct materials in niche manufacturing businesses, hospital capital equipment and Indirects.
Whilst working within the Healthcare Supplies industry, opportunities to broaden experience were presented by taking on a number of Customer Service Management roles and later a Warehouse Operations Manager role.
A change in role at the start of 2020 involved a move to the not for profit sector where as Head of Procurement for a leading care sector provider, the challenges of Covid-19 hit quickly and hit hard, making for a steep learning curve, but also a lot of lessons learned to reflect upon.
