In 2003, Mike joined the Civil Service where he undertook a variety of unusual roles based around his project management, procurement , and transformation skill-set, starting in the Ministry of Defence and ending in Defra. During this time, he completed his MSc in Procurement and Logistics.
Mike currently works as the Procurement & Logistics lead for Yorkshire Ambulance Service and chairs the National Ambulance Procurement Board. He achieved Fellowship status in 2016 with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
Transforming Procurement in a Blue Light Service
In January 2015 Mike Fairbotham joined Yorkshire Ambulance Service with the specific remit of transforming the procurement function. Mike and his Procurement department are finalists in the 2017 Supply Management awards in two categories – in this session Mike will give an overview of the key steps he took to achieve this outcome.
